Half Day Trip on board of Land Rover Defender, to explore some Waterfalls hidden in the wild mountains, and also some Volcanic peaks and viewpoints on the west coast.
"Montiferru" is the mountain area that embraces the wild hinterland of central-western Sardinia, in the province of Oristano.
The mountain landscape gently turns from wild lunar rock peaks to wooded hills.
The name "Montiferru" comes from the volcanic massif bearing the same name and which has been extinct 4 million of years ago.
The volcanic complex featured abundant lava eruptions that gradually created new lands both to the east, with the vast Abbasanta plateau presenting basaltic terrains, and to the west as far as the coastal strip.
We will depart at 9:00 in the morning.
Our tour includes a visit to 3 different waterfalls hidden between the folds of Montiferru.
We'll follow some paths in the woods onboard of Land Rover.
During the tour we could see some wonderful views of the west coast.
We will cross a natural area populated by mouffons and birds of prey.
We'll reach an old abandoned farm were we'll start a short and easy hiking under the trees (30 minutes roundtrip) to make our way to the Waterfall “Istrampu e Massabari”.
Next, we'll continue the tour on the top of vulcanic summits, were we'll visit some Volcanic peaks and viewpoints on the west coast.
We'll continue again on the mountains, just to meet the waterfall "Sos Molinos" and next ”Predas Rubias” .
We'll close our trip when we'll reach the sea at Santa Caterina di Pittinuri at 13:00
